Heart Tracks: Walking in the Heart of the Father

"I believe that the greatest tragedy in the western church today is that we know many truths about the Father, but so little of Him. To know Him we must walk in His heart. This book is my humble attempt to point the way to real intimacy with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It was for me, a walk through the heart of the Father. I hope it will be for you as well." ~ Gary O'Shell

Find the Truth

“Your problem is how you are going to spend this one and precious life you have been issued. Whether you’re going to spend it trying to look good and creating the illusion that you have power over circumstances, or whether you are going to taste it, enjoy it and find out the truth about who you are.” ~ Anne Lamott

Apologetics for a New Generation - Sean McDowell - General Editor

I found this book on the current release section at the public library and thought it sounded interesting. It's important as parents that we help our kids form a Biblical worldview before sending them into a world full of questions.

Back of Books Says:

“I feel so lost…I’m not sure what I believe anymore. Can you help me?”

For every teenager or college-age person who shares these thoughts, many more hide similar feelings inside. This generation’s faith is constantly under attack from the secular media, skeptical teachers, and unbelieving peers. You may wonder, How can I help?

Working with young adults every day, Sean McDowell understands their situation and shares your concern. His first-rate team of contributors, including Dan Kimball, Josh McDowell, and Brian Godawa, shows how you can help members of the new generation plant their feet firmly on the truth. Find out how you can walk them through the process of…

· Formulating a biblical worldview and applying scriptural principles to everyday issues.
· Articulating their questions and addressing their doubts in a safe environment
· Becoming confident in their faith and effective in their witness

The truth never gets old, but people need to hear it in fresh, new ways. Find out how you can effectively share the answers to life’s big questions with a new generation.

The Case for the Real Jesus by Lee Strobel

Check out this book by Lee Strobel if you have questions about Jesus and wonder what the truth really is then this is the book for you. Maybe people are asking you for proof regarding your beliefs that you take by faith alone - well here's some research to back your faith.

Back of Book Says:

Today, the traditional picture of Jesus is under an intellectual onslaught from critical scholars, popular historians, TV documentaries, Hollywood movies, bestselling authors, Internet bloggers, Muslim debaters, and atheist think tanks. They're capturing the public's imagination with a radical new portrait of Jesus that bears scant resemblance to the picture historically embraced by the church.

How persuasive is this new image of Jesus? Is it based on well-supported facts and arguments - or does it fade away when exposed to the hot light of scrutiny?

In this dramatic investigation, award-winning writer and former legal editor Lee Strobel explores such controversial questions as:

* Did Christianity suppress "alternative gospels" that portray Jesus more accurately than the New Testament?

* Did the church distort the truth about Jesus by tampering with early biblical texts?

* Have fresh insights and explanations finally disproved the resurrection?

Evaluate the evidence for yourself as leading experts grapple with the latest objections from today's foremost critics. Then reach your own verdict in The Case for the Real Jesus.

Find answers to your faith questions at Lee Strobel's website.

The Grace and Truth Paradox Book Giveaway

This month, Randy Alcorn is giving away The Grace and Truth Paradox to three randomly drawn winners. If you would like a chance to win the book, go to Randy's blog and make a comment by June 27. Winners will be announced in his blog on Monday, June 30.

I read this book a few months ago and think that many people could benefit from the truths shared.

Some thought provoking quotes I liked from the book:
People sensed that Jesus loved them, even when He spoke difficult words. He was full of grace and truth. He drew them out of the night like a light draws moths.

We’ve redefined Christlike to mean “nice.” By that definition, Christ wasn’t always Christlike. He confronted people with sin, raised His voice, threw tables, and called people snakes, blind hypocrites, and whitewashed tombs. If we don’t talk about sin and hell because we want to be nice, we’re trying to be nicer than Jesus, who spoke a great deal about both.

"Why should we have to choose between conservatism's emphasis on truth and liberalism's emphasis on grace? Why can't we oppose injustice to minorities and to the unborn? Why can't we oppose greedy ruination of the environment and anti-industry New Age environmentalism? Why can't we affirm the biblical right to the ownership of property and emphasize God's call to voluntarily share wealth with the needy? Why can’t we uphold God’s condemnation of sexual immorality, including homosexual practices, and reach out in love and compassion to those trapped in destructive lifestyles and dying from AIDS?

Something to think about that is for sure... For more information, comments, questions and answers on this powerful book, check out Randy's website. I encourage you to borrow or purchase a copy of this book. You could read it quickly or slowly depending on how much you plan to digest.
