The Case for Christ for Kids by Lee Strobel and Rob Suggs

There is much information available for adults who wish to investigate who Jesus was, but its a lot for a child to try to digest. Check out this kid-friendly (ages 8-12) book to help children in their search to learn more about Jesus. The Bible should be our first and foremost text to learn about our Savior, so this book is for those who want additional research.

Book Says:

You meet skeptics every day. They ask questions like:

Was Jesus really born in a stable? Did his friends tell the truth? Did he really come back from the dead? Here’s a book written in kid-friendly language to give you the answers.

Jesus: Dead or Alive?: Evidence for the Resurrection Teen Edition by Josh McDowell and Sean McDowell

Great book for teens and pre-teens who want to research the facts about Jesus' resurrection with Josh and Sean McDowell.

Back of Book Says:

You’ve never seen anybody come back to live after being dead for three days. Nobody you know has ever seen anybody come back to life after being dead for three days. But that doesn’t mean it’s never happened.

No one debates the fact that a Jewish peasant named Jesus was put to death in Palestine 2,000 years ago, but there’s been plenty of debate ever since about what happened next. Two thousand years of believing Christians have never seen anybody come back to life after being dead for three days, that’s exactly what happened: Jesus rose from the grave (not like in a zombie movie – he was really alive). Now you can see for yourself the evidence that has persuaded hundreds of millions of people for a couple thousand years… and you can find out why (if it really happened) Jesus’ resurrection changes everything.

Boneman’s Daughters by Ted Dekker

This book is something else. I never like to share too much when it comes to books especially when the author does such a good job keeping the reader guessing. Oftentimes when I read books, I have everything figured out well before the end. With this book there were so many possibilities to consider and I missed one major possibility. There are some graphic details, but mainly left to the readers imagination. You would hear worse listening to the evening news, unfortunately. If you like suspense and mystery this may be a book you will want to read.
Front Jacket says:

Would you kill an innocent man to save your daughter?

They call him BoneMan, a serial killer who’s abducted six young women. He’s the perfect father looking for the perfect daughter, and when his victims fail to meet his lofty expectations, he kills them by breaking their bones and leaving them to die.

Intelligence officer Ryan Evans, on the other hand, has lost all hope of ever being the perfect father. His daughter and wife have written him out of their lives.

Everything changes when BoneMan takes Ryan’s estranged daughter, Bethany, as his seventh victim. Ryan goes after BoneMan on his own.

But the FBI sees it differently. New evidence points to the suspicion that Ryan is BoneMan. Now the hunter is the hunted, and in the end, only one father will stand.

Free Book!

Taken from an email from Voice of the Martyrs:

It was the book that shocked the nation. After surviving 14 years in communist prisons, Pastor Richard Wurmbrand came to America to proclaim the trials and testimonies of our persecuted brothers and sisters.
In Tortured for Christ, Wurmbrand tells of his imprisonment for his work with the underground church and introduces the work of The Voice of the Martyrs. Forty years later, The Voice of the Martyrs remains true to its calling to be a voice for persecuted Christians, to serve with them in their time of need and to assist them in their efforts to proclaim the gospel.
We would like to extend this special opportunity for you to request a complimentary copy of Tortured for Christ for your Christian friends and family members. Help spread the message of today's persecuted church. Simply follow the link below.

This Side of Heaven by Karen Kingsbury

The author lists this book as a stand alone title, but it could also be read as part of the Cody Gunner Series since many of the characters from the series are mentioned in this book. A detail in This Side of Heaven actually hit me by surprise. Each time I read one of Karen's books, I feel challenged to be a better person and desire a closer relationship with Jesus. If you enjoy books that are heartwarming and challenging, get a copy of any of Karen Kingsbury's books.

Back of Book Says:

A story of family secrets, broken relationships, and a love strong enough to span a nation.

Annie Warren always wanted the best for her son, Josh. But years of failure and bad choices created a heartbreaking distance that has grown far worse since the day Josh was hit by a drunk driver. Now on medical disability, Josh has put his life on hold for years, waiting for the insurance company to send a settlement that never seems to come. Worse, he believes the story of a scheming woman who claims they have a seven-year-old daughter named Savannah. Despite the unlikelihood and complete lack of evidence, Josh dreams of being a father and is determined to one day claim the child. His family doesn't know the full story. They don't know what happened the night of the accident that was worth the chronic pain Josh suffers every waking minute, or that he is turning his life around. They haven't seen that Savannah's eyes are his, and they don't know how desperately the little girl needs her family. When the settlement that rightly belongs to Josh is threatened, Annie sets out to defend her son. But she might find a treasure more valuable than money, one she never expected, one that is the greatest gift her son could ever give her--THIS SIDE OF HEAVEN.

At the end of the book, Karen gives a wonderful offer to anyone who needs a Bible, but is unable to purchase one... Send her an email at Karen@KarenKingsbury.com and write the words "New Life" in the subject line and send her your address and she will mail you a Bible.

Breach of Trust by DiAnn Mills

I found this book at the library on the current release shelf. Previously, I read, The Nile Runs Red, and I plan to look for more books by DiAnn Mills. I enjoy reading suspense books and of course Christian books, so this books gives me both.

I was able to figure things out before the end of the book, but it was still a good read. This is the first book in a new series and I plan to read any that follow as well.
